How To Build A Succesful Practice
When you are starting your private practice, a common experience clinicians report is that they experience high case loads and very low case loads throughout the year. This can be one of the most frustrating parts during the initial phases of building your practice because it can be hard to accurately track your profits and finances. For the times that you are experiencing low case loads, I wanted to use this Private Practice Review to explore 3 quick strategies you can use to increase your clients case load.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
There are many different ways you can market your practice. Most mental health services that are successful will ultimately build their brand through word of mouth. But with the mental health and sport psychology market becoming even more competitive, clinicians need to be aware of how to utilize SEO (aka Search Engine Optimization). If you are going to make an investment in your business marketing practices, invest in hiring a high quality SEO specialist that will help you create a plan that works along your interests.
Don’t Be A Generalist, Be A Specialist
Narrow your target audience! Many clinicians think that if they offer a broad range of services to a broad range in clients this will increase the chances that they secure more clients. In my experience this couldn’t be further from the truth. It is important that clinicians find a field of focus and take a specialized approach when working with that client population. You need to differentiate yourself in this market, and replicating the same approach that other clinicians take is not a recipe for success.
Network Effect
Network and network often with clinicians that use the same techniques and practices that you use. Think about the times that you have made a referral? Do you refer clients to clinicians that use techniques you have never heard of? Probably not. Many clinicians make referrals to other clinicians that use the same approaches that they use because this falls within the clinicians comfort zone. The more often you network with clinicians who are like-minded to you, the more often you are probably going to get referrals from them!
Note To Reader:
If you are an athlete reading this segment of the TRAINING REPORT, hopefully this content was helpful! I put the Training Report together because I felt like many of the discussions on issues such as the Yips/mental blocks, strength training & other subject matter on athlete performance concepts were really missing the mark on these ideas (e.g. how trauma is the direct cause of the Yips). If you are interested in learning more, make sure to subscribe below for when I put out new content on issues related to sport psychology & athlete performance!
