Ben has been working in the field of mental health & sport psychology for over ten years helping athletes, veterans & individuals overcome their struggles with issues such as PTSD/trauma, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, depression & mental blocks. Over the course of his career, he has found that achieving training & certification in Brainspotting as well as acquiring the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) certification have tremendously benefited his practice!

Because Ben has seen the positive effects that these trainings have had in his practice, he wanted to help other clinicians develop the same skills to help their own clients. Ben is a Consultant & Certified Brainspotting Therapist as well as a registered mentor for the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. These titles allow him to provide clinicians with the required mentorship needed to achieve certification in these fields. For clinicians that are interested in pursuing certification but are still looking for additional resources, Ben wanted to provide tips & strategies that he has found to be helpful when developing a private practice. The PRIVATE PRACTICE Development Review is a resource clinicians can use to enhance their professional habits and hopefully further develop their private practice.  FAQs

  • Depending on the amount of training and studying you have been doing, the average number of mentor sessions can range from 7-10 sessions. In some cases, some mentees may need more than 7-10 sessions but this will be discussed as a possibility prior to beginning work with Ben. Individual mentor sessions cost $150.

  • According to the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, mentees will need 50 mentorship hours in addition to their direct client contact work (200 hours spent in direct client contact, a maximum of 150 hours spent in support activities). When working with Ben to acquire the individual mentor sessions, Ben charges $150 per mentor session.

  • Ben is not able to connect mentees with athletes because Ben’s clients are receiving private services that are confidential. Mentees will not be able to observe sessions. Mentees will be responsible for finding their own clients.

  • Ben accepts payment via cash, check or credit card. Payment is expected within 24 hours of service. Ben charges $150 per session.

  • Currently, Ben does not have an unpaid internship position.

  • Ben is in private practice by himself and does not have any job positions available

  • No, mentorship is in not the same as supervision. Supervision is where you are receiving specific advice on clinical application to specific cases while the clinical supervisor also agrees to shared, legal responsibility for client outcomes. Through coaching and mentorship, the mentor explores the theory an education behind certain techniques but is not providing specific technical or clinical advice to specific client cases. Ben is exclusively a mentor and coach in his role helping clinicians achieve Brainspotting or CMPC certification. He is not a clinical supervisor. He reviews this with all mentees prior to his work with them.
